Kids love playing with clay dough and create new thing but this
might be hazardous if they consume it, which is very common. Here are
a few methods to prepare edible Play dough, and let your child play
freely and experiment with his imaginations.
Take 18oz of peanut butter, 6 table spoon of honey, mix them in a
bowl and add milk powder to it to make dough around ¾th cup. You can
add cocoa powder to give it chocolaty look.
Then there is Jello play dough for this you have to mix well 1 cup
flour, 1/2 cup salt, 1 cup water, 1 tbsp. cooking oil and 2 tsp. cream
of tartar in cooking pot. Now Your browser may not support display of
this image. add 1 package of Jello powder to the mixture and place it
on a medium-high burner. Cook, while stirring continuously, until the
dough has thickened to the consistency of mashed potatoes. Remove it
from the burner and kneed when cool.

flour, 1/2 cup salt, 3 tsp. cream of tartar and 1 pkg. of unsweetened
Kool-Aid powder in a cooking pot mix these with one cup of water and
one tablespoon of cooking oil. Put on medium heat and stir
continuously in order to thicken it. Put down once done, kneed when it
cools down. The Play dough will smell, taste and look like the
Kool-Aid's color.
You can even make oatmeal play dough for this combine 2 cups of
oatmeal with 1 cup flour and 1 cup water. You can make more or less of
the edible dough by using the 2:1:1 ratio. Kneed the dough till smooth
and its ready to use. This dries off easily and can be painted
well.
There is a rubber dough made of 2 cups of baking soda, 1 ½ cup of
water and 1 cup cornstarch. Mix all the ingredients in a pan and boil
over medium heat until the mixture thicken. Once done keep it to
cool. This play dough has a smooth texture like rubber and is real
fun.
Here is one more recipe to make harder play dough to create beads
etc. for this take 1 pound of baking soda, 1 cup cornstarch, 1 ¼ cups
cold water, and food color (optional). Mix baking soda and cornstarch
first and then add water, cook and stir over low heat till it
thickens. Put down and cover it with damp cloth.
Try creating cinnamon dough by mixing 1 cup applesauce and 1 cup
cinnamon. If sticky add more of cinnamon, and kneed well. This too can
be used for jewelry making and can be painted well.
Put all the play dough in air tight containers.
